Legal Rainbow Love.

Are you in love? Yes? So you know what love is like, right? Do you want to get married to the one you love one day? Well, how would you feel if you were told that you couldn’t be with the one you love? For some people it is an important and amazing feeling to be linked together with someone. If someone is in love, does that bother you? When a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man, does that bother you? Now, why is it any different when a man loves a man, and a woman loves a woman? Love is defined on [link] as “A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair.” Love is love, you can’t change how or why a person loves a person. No matter the gender. That’s why I think that there should be same sex marriage in the United States.

One reason that people say that we shouldn’t have same sex marriage is because it goes against the bible. Well, not everyone on this Earth believes in God. So why should that apply to everyone? If it really bugs Christians that bad, then make it so that only Christian-gays can’t get married. If God loves the world and everyone in it, and God forgives everyone’s sins, then why can’t he forgive gays, lesbians, and bisexuals for being who they are? Christians believe that before you are born, God has already made a plan out for you. My mom always says “God has a plan for everyone, and we may not always like it. God works in mysterious ways.” So, if God has a plan for everyone, and God frowns upon gays, lesbians, and bisexuals, then why did he make them like that in the first place? If God’s plan was to make someone gay, then why can’t they get married? God made them that way. So why is it that people are saying God doesn’t like them anymore because he made them that way? That’s really hypocritical, don’t you think?

Didn’t we abolish discrimination a long time ago? I know that I can’t save the world and say, “Hey, everyone stop being racist/sexist/homophobic/etc.” But, the government is supposed to treat everyone equally. When the government says gays, lesbians, and bisexuals can’t get married, that’s discriminating them. We are not treating them equal and giving them equal rights. The government is discriminating against someone’s sexual preference. That’s illegal. Just because someone’s different, doesn’t mean we should exclude them. Just because I’m Caucasian and someone is African American does not give me the right to automatically hate them. That’s why we made discrimination illegal in the first place.

Keeping gays from being married is unconstitutional. When I was reading an article on [link], I came across this: “The proposition [to make gay marriage illegal] is not discriminatory, but merely reinforces the crucial role of traditional marriage and family in society. In 1978, the United States Supreme Court declared marriage to be "of fundamental importance to all individuals" in Zablocki v. Redhail. The court described marriage as "one of the 'basic civil rights of man'" and "the most important relation in life." The court also noted that "the right to marry is part of the fundamental 'right to privacy'" in the U.S. Constitution.“ Just because a man and a woman being married is “tradition” doesn’t mean it is said in the constitution that that we have to keep up that tradition. It is discrimination. You are discrimination someone not by there color of skin, or by there gender, but by there sexual preference. It’s unconstitutional and it is illegal.

I hope that I’ve convinced you of how wrong is it to not only tear someone from there loved one, but discriminate them from everyone else. I believe that gay marriage should be legal in the United States of America. Just because some people are homophobic shouldn’t stop people from being themselves.
